Counterintelligence exists for the sole purpose of protecting the criminal justice community. The Counterintelligence Report addresses intelligence regarding one or more of the law enforcement areas shown in the diagram.

The counterintelligence unit concentrates on three criminal collection areas:

• Human intelligence collection
• Imagery intelligence collection
• Technical communication intelligence collection

Counterintelligence is an ongoing process. The Counterintelligence Report addresses various methods utilized by criminals to collect materials from law enforcement in an effort to enhance the criminal's intelligence capability. The Counterintelligence Report is part of ongoing intelligence, with development beginning in the first mission phase and continuing through the Prosecution and Asset Recovery Phase.
