Current Criminal Activity Intelligence

The Current Criminal Activity Intelligence Report provides intelligence to update managers, administrators, and those involved in planning operations. It provides a single, concise report as to the types of criminal and criminally related activities that are occurring in various geographic areas. The report may also contain predictions as to what the intelligence unit anticipates is going to occur in various areas based on the current criminal activity intelligence.

This reporting, which starts as soon as the Criminal Modus Operandi intelligence is underway, requires that agency managers and mission managers determine the geographic areas that they need covered and the longest acceptable time delay between an event's occurrence and a report relating to that event. Update intervals are determined by the tactical situation and local policy, with the tactical situation being the priority. The report update time period may range from as often as once every eight-hour shift to as long as seven to fourteen days. Normally, the higher the level of criminal activity, the shorter the time period between reports.

The Current Criminal Activity Intelligence Report summarizes all available raw information and intelligence relating to any criminal activity in a geographic area. The report then provides as much intelligence as possible on the involved criminal's:

  • Command and control
  • Method of operation
  • Group numbers
  • Capabilities and vulnerabilities
  • Current goals and objectives
  • Level of competency and sophistication
  • Control of geographic areas

The following figure shows the Current Criminal Activity Intelligence Report is produced at the end of the second mission phase, providing input for operations as the mission moves into the “Operations Concept Development Phase.”
