Planning and Executing Law Enforcement Missions 

Intelligence supports the planning and execution of law enforcement operations and investigations. As the figure shows, these two types of activities are referred to collectively as "missions." Through a set of relationships involving both operational functions and intelligence functions, missions are planned and executed.


Phases of a Mission

There are seven mission phases in a generic planning and execution sequence. Some of the phases involve a specific operational/investigative activity. In other phases, multiple types of operational/investigative functions are involved. The seven mission phases are:
